NEXPO Chicago
will premier the first live demonstration of the innovative
IDS - the next step towards ‘lights out printing’. Visitors
to NEXPO can now see for themselves how IDS monitors the accuracy
of the printed colors on web-offset presses in closed loop, without
color marks being printed alongside.
IDS
(Intelligent Density System) is rapidly becoming highly successful
in Europe and will now also be shown to NEXPO visitors on a running
demonstration unit by Q.I. Press Controls North America, enabling
web-offset printers to form a concrete picture of how IDS can bring
savings for their companies. The demonstration unit will show how
a CCD camera scans and evaluates the actual printed image. The complete
printing quality of products, distributed straight from the web-offset
press without being trimmed, can now be monitored in closed loop,
without having to print any irksome color marks on them! This cost-saving
innovation is definitely interesting for ‘narrow gap’
presses, which have no margin for color marks.
At NEXPO, Q.I. Press Controls will also show how IDS in
combination with IRS and IQM carries out a trimmed quality
evaluation during and after the run so you can inform your management
and your customers of the quality behavior of printing jobs and
agree on actual quality tolerances with customers.
An important feature in this system is the operator interface.
For example, the ultimate target colors can be shown on this screen
in ‘soft proof’, based on ripped files and taking into
consideration the printing characteristics of the press, the ink
and the paper.
Never before has such an innovative piece of equipment been shown
at NEXPO, bringing ‘lights out printing’ another step
closer. Visitors to our NEXPO stand, no. 8015, can now be
persuaded in person. Our host, Gerald Ferron, and his colleagues
will give a detailed demonstration of the efficiency and quality
advantages of Q.I. Press Controls’ systems.
At NEXPO stand number 8015 Q.I. Press Controls will be showing
‘True Colors’ in the flesh, with all the explanation
and expertise you may require being available to you.
