Webnews Printing decides for Q.I. Press Controls
Q.I. Press Controls will be installing its IRS automatic
colour register and integrated cut-off control system on the Ventura
Press of Webnews Printing Inc., North York, Canada. The main reasons
for choosing Q.I. Press Controls are the small register marks,
the possibility to scan in front of the dryer and the availability
of a good additional motorization package. The total project exists
of 6 IRS scanners.
Patrick Callaghan, Director of Operations, was most involved
in the decision making. “The decision to equip our Ventura
Press, consisting of 2 towers of 4/4 color, 7 mono units and 2
folders, with Q.I. Press Controls’ IRS system, took us only
about three weeks,” says Patrick Callaghan. “Not only
the good reference of Jan Allan of Hebdo Litho in Montreal, Canada
convinced us, but amongst others also the possibility of the IRS
to scan from a unsupported web.” He continues: “Using
a telecentric lens both scanners can be placed close to the last
printing unit in front of the dryer. This enables us to control
the register at a very early stage in the printing process, that
will result in a considerable reduction of waste.”
Another reason for Webnews Printing to choose the IRS of Q.I.
Press Controls are the small register marks. “We are a high
quality printer. The fact that the IRS monitors virtually invisible
register marks, fits the image we want to send out.”
Patrick Callaghan concludes: “Because currently corrections
on our press need to be made manually on location, our wish to
invest in a register control system requires an investment in
motorization of this press. This in order to realize remote automatic
control. Q.I. Press Controls has an excellent motorization package
in its product range. For us this means we can keep everything
in one hand.”
Gerald Ferron, Managing Director of Q.I. Press Controls North
America: “I am very pleased with the way business is going
at this time. This order is a valuable addition of the extensive
installed base of Q.I. Press Controls.”
