Q.I. PRESS CONTROLS IMPLEMENTS INNOVATIVE IDS-3D AT TELEGRAAF DRUKKERIJ GROUP

Oosterhout, August 2014  - Telegraaf Drukkerij Group (TDG), part of Telegraaf Media Group (TMG) soon will make use of Q.I. Press Controls’ full automation solution including the newest innovation IDS-3D. They will be able to make the desired steps forward in the quality of both their production process and customer end-products.

Ferdy Demmers, Director Facility Company, belonging to the Telegraaf Drukkerij Group, is excited about the upcoming project: “By using Q.I. Press Controls’ technology in the printing process we expect to save on costs. This is essential to stabilize the printing cost per newspaper. We also expect Q.I. Press Controls’ solutions to deliver a constant /consistent print quality. With all these effects we will make an important step to maintain efficiency in print in the future.”

He adds: ”We have experienced Q.I. Press Controls to be professional, but above all we have had pleasant and constructive conversations with them. That’s the basis for success. The new system is relevant for us because it’s the most advanced system of its time, so we can make an important step forward. With this investment we expect to realize our goals. The management information system will play an important role as it will help us to rectify the printing process when needed.”

For the printing facility of TDG in Amsterdam Q.I. Press Controls will install 16 cameras on De Telegraaf’s PECOM controlled manroland TELEMAN (COLORMAN) press. This press consist of 4 printing units (9 and 10 cylinder satellite). TDG will be the first Dutch printer to install Q.I. Press Controls’ newest innovation IDS-3D. IDS-3D is the first image based register control and colour control camera in the world. The ultimate result realized by IDS-3D is reproduction with absolute colour and register stability in products independent of job, printing company or press at minimum waste and maximum efficiency. All This without the need for any printed colour bars, grey bar strips or markings. On the TELEMAN (COLORMAN) IDS-3D will be controlling colour register including front-to-back, colour and dampening. Besides the new IDS-3D TDG has ordered mRC-3D for cut-off and turner-bar registration and Q.I. Press Controls’ management information system IQM, including trend reporting.

“Towards the future efficient and good quality printing will remain important. Q.I. Press Controls offers a solution that can comply with both goals. We will start with the implementation of IDS-3D on one press. When our set standards are met, we intent to extent the number of presses equipped with Q.I. Press Controls’ solutions”, Demmers concludes.
