Oosterhout, January 2026
- Gota Media, owner of the Swedish print locations Borås Tidning and Sydostpressarna, continues to set a strong example in future-oriented newspaper production by combining consistently high print quality with the lowest achievable waste levels.More than a decade ago, Sydostpressarna made a forward-thinking decision by implementing the Intelligent Density System (IDS) from Q.I. Press Controls. At that time, it was the first image-measuring color control system installed in Sweden and the first solution capable of fully automatic control of both ink and water. In 2013, this represented a significant technological advancement for the newspaper industry.
The results were immediate and lasting. Waste levels were reduced substantially, while print quality reached a level of consistency that set a new internal benchmark. Sydostpressarna demonstrated how technology, when combined with craftsmanship and operational discipline, can truly elevate newspaper production.
One of the most appreciated moments from that period is reflected in a simple photo with a memorable story behind it. Sydostpressarna traditionally selected a “Printer of the Month.” Following the introduction of IDS, quality became so stable and repeatable that the printers decided to award this title to the GOS, the system’s HMI. For us, this gesture remains one of the highest compliments we could receive.
Today, more than ten years later, the decision to continue this journey is not driven by novelty, but by proven performance. It marks the extension of a long-standing and trusted partnership, built on mutual respect and shared commitment to quality and efficiency.
Tommy Johnsson and Jasmin Basic, thank you for your continued trust and collaboration.
We look forward to supporting Sydostpressarna as they continue to print high-quality newspapers for many years to come.
